A complete transformation of a historic detached villa in Amsterdam’s prestigious Oud-Zuid neighbourhood, combining preserved architectural heritage with contemporary luxury and timeless design.

The project involved an extensive architectural reconstruction, including the excavation and conversion of the basement into approximately 100 m² of additional living space, as well as the construction of an entirely new upper floor.

These substantial structural alterations transformed the villa into a five-level residence, comprising a basement, ground floor, first floor, second floor and newly added third floor.

The entire building was reconfigured and divided into three independent residential apartments, each with its own distinctive layout and character.

The lower residence extends across the basement and ground floor, with access to a private front garden and a generous rear garden of approximately 200 m².

The middle residence, measuring approximately 90 m², was transformed from a two-room apartment into a three-room residence featuring two bedrooms and a separate living area, with a carefully optimised layout.

The upper residence spans the second and newly constructed third floor, offering approximately 160 m² of living space across two levels. It features two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a spacious open-plan living and dining area.

While the historic exterior façade and original entrance hall, including its authentic marble flooring, were carefully preserved, the remainder of the building underwent a complete contemporary transformation.

Every interior was entirely reconstructed and redesigned to the highest modern standards, incorporating premium materials, bespoke architectural details, contemporary furnishings and carefully chosen art pieces. Each space was thoughtfully conceived to reflect the client’s individual vision, combining refined aesthetics with modern comfort and functionality.

The result is a striking architectural transformation in which the building’s historic identity is preserved on the outside, while its interiors embrace a distinctly contemporary approach to luxury living.

Three individual residences now occupy the villa, each defined by sophisticated design, exceptional attention to detail and timeless elegance.
